Hopefully everyone is pumped and ready to go for the next SPARQ training session through the Fulton Basketball Academy! As this camp for the Sioux City location is taking place at Irving Elementary School I want to remind all athletes to bring an alternative pair of cross training shoes if desired as we may go outside and enjoy the fall weather and large open space (playground and grass) in back of the school during some of the NIKE SPARQ training sessions. Additionally, a sweatshirt or light jacket/windbreaker may be a good idea, especially for some of the evening sessions. I look forward to continue working with and improving your child’s overall athleticism!

As we wind down this last week of this session of the Fulton Basketball Academy camp I truly hope that everyone has enjoyed the SPARQ training as I am confident that everyone that participates regularly is becoming a better and more explosive athlete! We will be re-testing to update everyone’s official SPARQ Rating at the beginning of the camp starting in December.
Remember that to view and update your SPARQ page you must go to www.sparqtraining.com and then enter the ‘Locker Room’ area by clicking on the ‘Ratings’ link at the top of the page and then the ‘Locker Room’ link at the right. If you completed all of the SPARQ testing with the new equations you should have also been e-mailed a username and password with a link that takes you directly to this area. The default for all new profiles is football so be certain to log in and update this area if interested in doing so. You can also upload pictures, videos, school name, and tons of other information. Without your username and password you can only view your current profile by searching for your name in the ‘Search Locker Rooms’ area.
Additionally, since basketball season is now officially getting into high gear here in the Midwest the SPARQ portion of camp will also be changing slightly for the camp starting in December. We will be incorporating more dynamic stretches and a greater emphasis on flexibility, range of motion, proper warm-up and cool down as well as injury prevention as I know most basketball athletes will be putting in several hours per week at practices and games. I want to facilitate the athleticism we have been working on as well as reduce injury potential throughout the season! We will integrate several types of stretching into the workouts to include static, ballistic, dynamic and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation commonly called PNF. I look forward to working with you and your children in the future as they progress along their athletic careers!
